Troubleshooting
Most issues fall into one of the buckets below, and most have a quick fix you can do yourself. Start here — if your problem isn't covered, there's a link to report it at the bottom.
This page is the fastest path to a fix because it's available the moment you need it. For genuine bugs and subscription problems we'll always help — for open-ended setup or data questions, these self-serve answers and the linked guides are the best first stop.
Subscription & Checkout
I tried to subscribe and got an error
We recently fixed a checkout bug that prevented some subscriptions from completing. If you hit an error, please try again first — it should work now.
If it still fails, that's a bug we want to hear about. Use the report form and tell us which tier you were subscribing to and any error text you saw.
I was charged but don't have access
Access is tied to the email on your payment. If a charge went through but you can't reach subscriber content, report it with the email you used to pay and the approximate time of the charge, and we'll reconcile it manually.
How do I cancel or change my subscription?
Sign in to the subscriber hub and click Manage. That opens your billing portal, where you can cancel, update your payment method, or change your plan.
Sign-in & Access
My sign-in link didn't arrive
Sign-in uses a one-click email link — no password. If it hasn't shown up:
- Check your spam / promotions folder.
- The email comes from Firebase /
[email protected]— allow that sender. - Wait a minute and request a fresh link; older links expire.
"Subscription not found" when I sign in
The email you enter has to match your SoftSignal subscriber email exactly. If you subscribed with one address and are signing in with another, that's usually the cause. Report the two emails through the form if you're not sure which is on file.
MCP Server Setup
How do I connect SoftSignal data to my AI client?
Follow the step-by-step guide for your client:
New to MCP? The Why MCP page explains what it is and what you can ask once it's connected.
"Connection refused" or the server won't load
This is almost always a config that wasn't saved or a client that wasn't fully
restarted. Save your config file, then quit the app completely
(not just close the window) and reopen it. Double-check the server URL ends in
/mcp.
It connects but says I'm not authorized
Authorization checks your subscriber email, so this overlaps with sign-in: the email you authenticate with must match the one on your subscription. See "Subscription not found" above. If the emails match and it still fails, report it — that's a bug.
Reports & Data
A report link gives a "page not found"
Report links are issued fresh each week. If your link came from an older email, the current issue will be in your most recent newsletter rather than at the old address.
A data series looks stale or wrong
First check the Data Status page — it shows the freshness of every series and notes when a source is simply slow to publish upstream. If a value looks genuinely wrong rather than just late, that's a data-error report we very much want — send it through the form with the series and what you expected to see.
If your problem isn't here, tell us what happened. Bug reports, subscription issues, and data-error reports are exactly the feedback that makes this project better — and the ones we prioritize.
Report an issue or contact usBest for subscription issues and bug reports. We read everything but can't reply to every open-ended data question. Feedback is always welcome.
